Embarrassment
I had a very embarrassing incident happen to me today. I was shopping for clothes for uni, I had decided to wait until the kids had gone to school before I started looking for my new outfits. I had been round various shops and bought a few bit and pieces and then decided to have a look in Tesco’s on the A127, they have just had a big refurbishment and had a second floor put in with a clothing department. Tesco’s is one the few places that stock bras in my size (without having to pay stupid prices) so was keen to see what they had in stock. Anyway, decided on two bras at £10’s each, so went to checkout, the only person there was a young chap. He seemed to be so embarrassed by my purchase and went bright red and couldn’t get rid of me quick enough. From there I went into the cafeteria and had a cup of coffee, then decided to use the loos. The loos are on the ground floor with the entrance in front of the till. As I went in, a security alarm went off, I thought”can’t be me” and carried on. As I came out, the alarm went off again and to my left were two security personnel. Everyone at the tills was watching. Believe it or not I thought to myself what do I do run or stay. So I headed towards the customer service desk and explained to the staff what had happened. They checked my purchases and the idiotic boy had left the security tags on………..how embarrassing. Flights from Canada
Hopefully next year we will be having two lots of visitors from Canada. Sarah and Bill are coming over from Edmonton in June and if we can arrange things round exams etc Ruth is coming home hopefully in April. I was looking for flights on Zoom Airlines, which are reasonably priced but had forgotten that a magazine I subscribe too gives 20% discount on flights from Canada if booked before the end of this year. The discount is almost £60 which is not bad. So Ruth, Zoom it is!! Last day at work
At last………………I have resigned. It seemed to take a long time but its over, yippee. I must admit it was a nice feeling on Friday going into work for the last time. There were a few people that did not know that I was leaving, it was a great saying “this is my last day. I got a few cards from work colleagues and bottle of wine from management which I wasn’t expecting. The one person I did not expect to get anything from, one of my supervisors gave me a really lovely card. I really didn’t think she liked me at all; maybe she was just very pleased to get rid of me. I will miss some of the people from work but I am glad to be outta there!! Only 3 weeks to go. Ladders and paintbrushes - not a good mix
For about a year now Wayne has been saying that the barge boards around the bungalow needed re-varnishing. I was looking at them the other day and thought they were starting to look really tatty. So in a moment of madness and greed offered to do them if Wayne paid me. To which he agreed! So Tuesday morning got up early and started the job. Had my old decorating clothes, baseball cap and MP3 player on, so was very happy to get on with it. The first thing job to be done was sweeping the boards and guttering to get rid of all the cobwebs (about 5 years worth). Being terrified of spiders this was a big deal for me but managed to do it. Did the back of the house first, sanded and varnished the boards, then started on to the driveway side of the house. About halfway down saw strange looking things on the boards and was intently wondering what they were, they looked like insect eggs or something when I felt a tug on my trouser leg. I screamed and nearly fell off the ladder then turned around and my neighbour was standing there. Because I had not answered her when she said hello, she thought it would be a good idea to tug my trouser leg. Wasn’t very happy with her as you can imagine. It didn’t take long to finish the boards and I must admit they really did look good after. The only bit that I couldn’t do was the very high arch at the front of the house (I hate being short), s had to wait for Wayne to get the big ladder out for me. When he did I felt really brave and refused his offer of finishing it off and went up the ladder…big mistake, my legs were shaking; the varnish was spilling out of the tin, it must have looked very funny to the neighbours Lol, will not being doing that again, not for 5 years anyway. So shall look forward to spending my earnings. Saturday
Look how beautiful it was on Saturday. The weathermen got it right for a change. The water was so clear. Only a few days earlier had looked like autumn. Must admit we are very fortunate to live in a lovey part of England MP3 player
I have just treated myself to an MP3 player. I couldn’t decide between an Ipod, Sony or another type of MP3 player but after reading the reviews on Amazon, finally went for Creative Zen Stone Plus. It came yesterday and its great!! So simple to use (which it needs to be for me). It had to be charged for 3 hours then there was a website to download the software and within a few minutes I had most of my record collection on. It’s a tiny little thing, the instruction booklet was bigger than the player. My only disappointment about it is the earphones…..who designed them… a giant with massive ears?!!! But when you finally do get the headphones near your ears the sound is amazing. Will have to get some smaller headphones. Also need to get a skin for it, saw a nice one with a key ring, might stop me from losing it……hint, hint all you xmas pressie buyers. Was so impressed with it that I’ve ordered one for Wayne. He can listen to all his music, without me having too. A British summer
I cannot believe how bad the weather is at the moment. We actually had to put our central heating on yesterday it was that cold. All those poor kids (and their mum’s) off school on their summer break must be really sick of it by now. Still we are not the only place were the weather is bad. It least we do not have to cope with 100 miles an hour winds, although it felt like it yesterday. We went down for a long walk on the beach, we were all wrapped up against the wind, and it was beautiful, the sea was up the boats were being tossed around, the seagulls were enjoying themselves, it was just so flippin cold. My brother and his family went to the Dominican Republic for their holiday last Friday but they didn’t fly until the Saturday because of the hurricane. There was me panicking that I wouldn’t get them to the airport in time at 4.30 in the morning……….and they didn’t fly out until the next day. Apparently the airline didn’t treat them very well and were constantly changing the departure time but still they are there now. I’m not sure how I would feel holidaying on an island that has just been hit by a hurricane. Think I would feel a bit in the way. Oh well they have promised good weather for this weekend and it’s a bank holiday weekend, though as usual ….I’M WORKING! Still only a few more shifts to go and them FREEDOM!!!!!
